Cover or pixelate an image area, step by step

1. Choose one image and select a solid block or pixelation.
2. Set the rectangle using its left edge, top edge, width and height.
3. Apply the area, inspect the entire result and download the copy.

Position a rectangle over the detail

The controls use percentages of the image rather than screen coordinates. A left edge of 25% starts a quarter of the way across. The rectangle is clipped if it reaches the image boundary. To cover several separate details, download the first result and use that copy for the next rectangle.

Choose the treatment for the job

Use a solid block when the covered pixels need to be unreadable. Pixelation creates a visual effect and can leave a short word, a face or a recognizable shape identifiable. Review the full-size result and make sure the area covers the entire detail, including reflections or repeated copies elsewhere in the image.

File support and export limits

Use static JPG, PNG or WebP files. HEIC, GIF, SVG and animated images are not supported. Each file can be up to 25MB and 40 million pixels; a batch can total up to 120MB. Image exports are limited to 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels on either edge. These limits can reduce large images. PDF pages use re-encoded images.
