Start a palette from an existing image
A photo can provide a useful starting point for a slide, illustration or web design. The tool samples a reduced copy of the image, groups nearby colors, and keeps distinct frequent groups. Each swatch includes a HEX code, RGB values and an approximate share of sampled visible pixels. Downloaded JSON includes these values in a reusable list.
Use the colors as a starting point
This is a dominant-color extractor, not an exact eyedropper at a chosen pixel. Resampling and grouping can change a color slightly; a photograph with gradients may produce different choices at different palette sizes. Nearly transparent pixels are ignored. The output does not evaluate contrast or guarantee accessible text colors, so check the foreground and background combination in the design where you use it.
File support and export limits
Use static JPG, PNG or WebP files. HEIC, GIF, SVG and animated images are not supported. Each file can be up to 25MB and 40 million pixels; a batch can total up to 120MB. Image exports are limited to 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels on either edge. These limits can reduce large images. PDF pages use re-encoded images. Why do I get fewer colors than requested?
Flat artwork may only contain a few distinct visible colors. The tool avoids inventing extra swatches to fill the requested count.
Does it extract colors from transparent pixels?
Pixels with opacity below about half are ignored. A completely transparent image returns a clear error instead of an empty or misleading palette.
