Split image into tiles, step by step

1. Choose an image. Crop it first if you need tiles with a particular shape.
2. Set the number of columns and rows, for a total of 2–20 tiles.
3. Preview the numbered pieces and download the ZIP. Filenames include row and column positions.

Prepare the shape before splitting

The grid divides the whole image without adding gaps. For three square tiles in one row, start with an image three times as wide as it is tall. For a square three-by-three grid, start with a square image. A one-row layout is useful for a horizontal sequence, while multiple rows create a contact grid or a larger tiled composition.

Tile order and exact boundaries

Pieces are numbered left to right, then top to bottom. Filenames also include row and column numbers so they remain identifiable outside the ZIP. If the dimensions are not evenly divisible, some tiles differ by one pixel; the full working image is still covered. Very large originals are reduced to a maximum working width of 4,096 pixels and 16 million pixels before the grid is calculated. Check the destination platform’s ordering and size rules yourself.

File support and export limits

Use static JPG, PNG or WebP files. HEIC, GIF, SVG and animated images are not supported. Each file can be up to 25MB and 40 million pixels; a batch can total up to 120MB. Image exports are limited to 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels on either edge. These limits can reduce large images. PDF pages use re-encoded images.
